Jena McDaniel, PhD, discusses how her ASHFoundation funding helped launch her research into how deaf and hard of hearing children learn words as well as how children with autism spectrum disorder best learn how to vocalize to communicate. Dr. McDaniel received the ASHFoundation’s Student Research Grant in 2016 and the New Investigators Research Grant in 2020. She is now continuing her research through a grant awarded by the National Institutes of Health.
